TERMS

The short agreement.

Effective 13 August 2026 · For how we handle your data, read the privacy policy.

1. The agreement

These terms govern your use of The Weekly Root, published by Thrive Wellness Network, including the website, the newsletter and any paid membership. By subscribing, creating an account or paying for a membership, you accept them.

If you do not accept them, please unsubscribe and stop using the site — no hard feelings.

2. Your account

You may sign in with a magic link or a password. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since that is what proves it is you. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.

You must be at least 16 years old to subscribe or hold an account.

3. The free letter

The weekly letter is free and always will be. We send it only after you confirm your address, and you can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. We may change the schedule, format or occasional extras without notice, though we will tell you in the letter when anything meaningful changes.

4. Membership and billing

Memberships are optional and unlock member-only issues and archives. Prices are shown in US dollars on the membership page at the time you subscribe, and payment is taken by Paystack. We never see or store your card details.

Memberships renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the same price, until you cancel. Your founding rate, if you joined on one, stays fixed for as long as your membership runs without interruption.

If a renewal payment fails, Paystack may retry it. If it keeps failing, member access pauses until payment succeeds; your account and free letter are unaffected.

5. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel yourself at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep member access until then. We do not automatically pro-rate part-months.

If something went wrong — a charge you did not expect, a membership you never used, an issue we failed to deliver — email us and we will usually refund rather than argue. Statutory rights to cancel or be refunded, where they apply to you, are on top of this and are not affected by anything here.

6. Not medical advice

The Weekly Root is evidence-informed writing about nourishment, movement, rest and everyday wellbeing. It is general information, not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a qualified clinician who knows your history.

Always consult a healthcare professional before changing your diet, exercise, sleep or medication, especially if you are pregnant, managing a condition or taking prescribed treatment. Never delay seeking medical help because of something you read here.

7. Content and intellectual property

The writing, images, guides and design are owned by Thrive Wellness Network or used with permission. Your membership grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to read and keep copies for yourself.

You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link back. You may not republish whole issues, resell or redistribute member-only content, share member logins, or use our content to train machine-learning models without written permission.

8. Acceptable use

When using the site and its forms, please do not:

  • Subscribe addresses that are not yours, or submit false information.
  • Attempt to break, probe or overload the site or its email systems.
  • Scrape content or automate access beyond ordinary reading.
  • Send abusive, unlawful or misleading messages through the Ask form.

9. Suspension and ending the agreement

We may suspend or end access, and refund any unused paid period, if an account breaches these terms or if we stop offering the service. You may end the agreement at any time by cancelling your membership and unsubscribing.

10. Availability and liability

We work to keep the site and the mail running, but we cannot promise uninterrupted delivery; email providers, payment processors and hosting occasionally fail. Where an issue is delayed or lost, our responsibility is limited to re-sending it or refunding the affected part of your membership.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects members, we will give notice in the newsletter before it takes effect, and continuing your membership afterwards means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts there have jurisdiction — without removing any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
